Trusting the Plan

I’m learning a lot about trust lately. So many messages I’ve listened to this week and so many passages I’ve read in the Bible have reminded me this week what trust in the Lord is all about.

Trusting in a plan we cannot see is hard. I don’t understand the plan where my son never reaches 21, where I never get to see him again, where he doesn’t get to hug his little girl. But seriously, if I understood everything about God, wouldn’t that make him a very small God? I am certainly not one of the brilliant minds in the universe, so my understanding of God and his plan would just put Him into the “man behind the curtain” category; no omniscience, no omnipresence, no omnipotence…just some guy behind the curtain. Phoenix taxi driver donates kidney

PHOENIX — Rita Van Loenen had no idea that a trip in Thomas Chappell’s taxi cab could end up being the ride that saves her life.

“There are better odds of getting struck by lightning,” Van Loenen said. “A random taxi driver offering to give me his kidney and all these pieces match. There has to be something behind this. How can this be?”

Chappell, who has been driving Van Loenen to dialysis appointments, shocked the Gilbert, Ariz. woman a month ago by offering to donate his kidney. But even more shocking to her was that doctors found they had the same blood type, that they were compatible. Continued »

Path Cleared for Memorial

Path Cleared for Memorial to Flight 93
Work will begin this fall on a memorial to those killed aboard United Airlines Flight 93 on Sept. 11, 2001, now that agreements have been reached to buy the last key pieces of land in Pennsylvania, Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar said Monday.

The federal government will pay about $9.5 million to the owners of nine parcels near Shanksville, in rural southwestern Pennsylvania, totaling 1,395 acres, including the site where the plane crashed and one right-of-way, Mr. Salazar said. Continued »

Missing Boaters Found

They kept their bodies alive with rationed crackers, bubble gum, beer and three gallons of water. But spiritually, the three men lost at sea for eight days had something else to keep them going.

“We just kept praying, and we kept hope alive,” rescued boater Tressel Hawkins told CNN on Monday. “Even though hope had managed to thread down to a little bitty string, I mean, that little bitty string could be just as strong as the rope you hung on to the first time you got started.”

What was supposed to be a fishing expedition to catch swordfish and marlin became instead a test of survival. Continued »

Bible Verse of the day February 5th, 2012

~ Verse of the Day ~

Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall. No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.

    -- 1 Corinthians 10:12,13

Time for Reflection and Prayer for Guidance

December 25, 2009 @ 1:53 PM

So today I have recommitted myself and exhort you also to make an example of yourself by doing “the right thing” in all things. It’s pretty simple actually, if we do His will, he is free to fight our battles, but if we don’t, and we refuse to repent of our sin and except His Grace, can we honestly expect the Creator’s intercession on our behalf, in personal, civil or political matters?

Conflict Of Good & Evil

November 28, 2009 @ 11:02 AM

God is a God of grace and it says in 2 Peter 3:9 that “He is not willing that any one perish but that all will come to repentance.” Yes he loves all of us, Christians, Muslims, and Jews, not one more than the other, but His grace can be refused by our rebellious will. It will break his heart but when the time comes he will judge and punish us accordingly!

Trusting the Plan

October 10, 2009 @ 2:15 PM

When life is hard, when life hands us sorrows and disappointments, when life doesn’t go according to our plan, when we feel the heavy burden of our utter lack of understanding, we must trust. We must trust passionately and completely, knowing that He that is in us is greater than the world around us.

This is absolutely a powerful video. It is worth taking a few minutes to watch when you are not rushed.

Missing Boaters Found

September 07, 2009 @ 9:30 AM

“We tried flagging’ everybody we could, but I guess it was not our time to go home yet. They’d come straight at us, we’d be like ‘Hey,’ and there they’d go,” Hall told KHOU. “I was like, well, you know the good man above, either he’s teaching us a lesson or showing us something. And finally, when that boat came, it was just … I don’t know.”
“It was a miracle,” Phillips said, finishing Hall’s sentence.

Little Miracles

September 02, 2009 @ 12:17 PM

I don’t mean to say God doesn’t hear us, the bible tells us that he most certainly does listen to our prayers, he just doesn’t audibly speak to us. Most of us are so out of touch with our inner voice that we couldn’t hear his voice even if he did speak directly to us and our eyes are so clouded with the things of this world that seeing the miracles he does every day is nearly impossible.
